while I was moving my blog, I did some sketching of jellyfish…as much as I wanted the blog to move to wordpress, I could not work on it permanently. I loved to design it, but the fine-tuning here and there is a bit boring over time.
Back to the jellyfish. I somehow love them because they float elegantly in the water. There is a store here which used to have an aquarium with jellyfish…I could have watched them for ages.
I already had shown some of my drawn jellyfish on instagram…and while sketching one, I was taking photos after each step. In the following video you can see how easy it is to sketch a jellyfish. You just need a pencil, eraser, black ink, nib and watercolors. When you don’t have ink and nib you could also take a waterproof fineliner. My drawings are based on pictures found using google.
On the photo above you can see my first attempt of jellyfish on the left and a later version on the right. I loved my first attempt after I had sketched it but after some practice I didn’t like it anymore. Thus, I re-sketched it again. Now, I love the newer version on the right much more. I love how the tentacles came out…so much more elegant. Do you see the differences?
